Pointe-Claire (Québec) – September 19, 2017 – The Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation (LGHF) is proud to announce the significant donation of $ 200,000 presented by City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux Mayor Ed Janiszewski, for its 2016-2018 Life can change in an instant Capital Campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise $ 8 million to expand, modernize and equip the Lakeshore General Hospital’s (LGH) Intensive, Cardiac, Psychiatric and Geriatric Units.
“It goes without saying that the improvements that we have already begun and will continue to make to the LGH are essential to maintaining the quality of health care that West Islanders expect and are entitled to. The LGHF is very grateful to the City of DDO for its generous donation, which enables us to pursue our mission – to improve facilities and enhance the quality of care at the LGH,” says Heather Holmes, Managing Director of the LGHF.
“As a resident and mayor of the City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, I am fully aware of the importance of having an integrated health care facility that provides quality care close to home. Our population is growing and aging, and the need for excellent medical care is also growing. It is our duty as a municipality to support our community hospital so that it can continue to serve our community well. I hope my colleagues from other cities and boroughs in the West Island will follow suit,” said Ed Janiszewski, Mayor of the City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
To date, the LGHF has managed to raise $ 5,973,500 for its 2016-2018 Capital Campaign. It has also secured financial commitments from certain municipalities in the region: Dorval, Kirkland, L’Île-Bizard/Ste-Geneviève, Pierrefonds-Roxboro and Pointe-Claire.
