Pointe-Claire (Québec) — August 29, 2024 — The Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation’s 3rd annual Dragon Boat Race took place on Saturday, August 24 and raised $66,193 for the hospital’s Oncology clinic.
Launched in 2022, the event has raised over $200,000 for oncology. This year, the race welcomed six teams and over 120 participants. The funds raised will go toward purchasing wall-mounted blood pressure machines and supporting the massage therapy program for cancer patients receiving treatment at the Lakeshore General Hospital. Massage therapy interventions are used to alleviate the symptoms and side effects of treatment and to meet the psychosocial needs of people with cancer.
Nathalie Kamel, Managing Director of the Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation, is thrilled by the event’s success. “Our community came together to make a powerful impact, raising over $66,000 for our oncology department. This event embodies the strength of our collective spirit, and we’re filled with optimism for what the future holds as we continue to support this important cause.
Many people have been touched by cancer, either through their own experience or a loved one’s. We are proud to be able to host such a fun event and look forward to doing it again next year! We want to thank our corporate team Jarislowsky Fraser Ltd./HarbourVest, as well as all our participants, donors, volunteers and supporters of the event.”
