Baton Rouge event 2019

Pointe-Claire (Québec) – April 30, 2019 – The Lakeshore General Hospital Foundation (LGHF) is very pleased to announce that the 9th edition of its very popular Bâton Rouge Gastronomy Event, held on April 29, was a great success. Sponsored by Bâton Rouge D.D.O., Air Canada Rouge, Château Dollard, Cupcake Couture, Italvine, Pasticceria Alati-Caserta and Saputo, the event raised $61,000, exceeding last year’s amount, thanks to last-minute donations. The funds will be going towards enhancing the quality of care offered at the Lakeshore General Hospital.

The Bâton Rouge Gastronomy Event was already sold out several weeks before, with a list of over 250 guests. Thanks to the great generosity of Bâton Rouge D.D.O owners, the evening began with a cocktail hour, followed by a delicious four-course meal and an open bar. Air Canada Rouge, who recently signed an annual partnership with the LGHF, generously contributed to the evening’s success by offering a $2,000 Air Canada Vacations voucher as a raffle prize. Guests also enjoyed a silent auction filled with fabulous items graciously donated by thirty local companies. Once again, the atmosphere quickly enlivened thanks to DJ George Thomas International’s entertainment and upbeat music.

“I want to express my tremendous gratitude to the owners of the restaurant, John Frintzilas, Jimmy Sotiropoulos and Peter Gianopoulos, without whom this event would not be possible, not to mention all their staff who volunteered during the entire evening. It is thanks to their generosity and dedication to our cause that the Foundation has been able to organize this wonderful evening for nine years now. I would also like to thank our sponsors, donors and guests, your support is invaluable and directly contributes to improving health care for our community,” said Heather Holmes, Managing Director of the LGHF.

Humanitarian Award
One of the evening’s highlights was the presentation of the Humanitarian Award to recently retired uniGear, a David Brown Company, President, Ron Mehra. Ms. Holmes and Co-Chairs of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, Dr. Fiore Lalla and David Cescon, were thrilled to pay tribute to this great philanthropist for his sense of community and great generosity to the Foundation over the years. Mr. Mehra – a well-known business man from the West Island community – received his award under long, warm applause.
