Voici l\u2019histoire de Laurent :<\/p>\n

Quand tu re\u00e7ois un diagnostic de cancer, c\u2019est l\u2019\u00e9quivalent d\u2019\u00eatre mis \u00e0 nu. \u00c0 ce point tous les patients deviennent \u00e9gaux. Nous vivons tous avec un masque, une image de qui nous pensons \u00eatre, mais quand vous \u00eates dans le d\u00e9partement d\u2019oncologie, c\u2019est une exp\u00e9rience exceptionnelle. Votre voiture, votre statut, votre titre au travail n\u2019ont plus aucune importance. Nous avons tous des raisons s\u00e9rieuses d\u2019\u00eatre l\u00e0. Oui, vous \u00eates seul quand vous recevez les traitements, mais tout le personnel vous soutient. Je ne me suis jamais senti seul. Au contraire, je me suis senti inclus, comme si je faisais partie d\u2019une famille aimante, d\u00e9vou\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Chacun est professionnel et amical. L\u2019amour que je ressens et re\u00e7ois est ph\u00e9nom\u00e9nal. Mon infirmi\u00e8re principale, nomm\u00e9e Kim Jessee, et moi avons une belle complicit\u00e9 et beaucoup d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eats communs. Par exemple, nous aimons tous les deux jouer au bridge. Elle me donne de bons conseils, comme de participer aux diff\u00e9rents programmes offerts par le Centre de bien \u00eatre de l\u2019Ouest-de-l\u2019\u00cele pour les personnes atteintes de cancer, ce qui m\u2019aide \u00e9norm\u00e9ment. D\u00e9finitivement, elle est un joueur important dans mon processus de gu\u00e9rison. Nous formons une \u00e9quipe, nous nous faisons confiance mutuellement.<\/p>\n

Quand vous \u00eates atteint de cancer, vous ne savez pas \u00e0 quoi vous attendre. La vie devient compl\u00e8tement incertaine. Le d\u00e9partement d\u2019oncologie est un environnement s\u00e9curitaire, r\u00e9confortant et apaisant. <\/strong> Quelques fois, nous nous sentons vuln\u00e9rables, mais ils ont tellement de compassion, ils savent exactement ce dont nous avons besoin et gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 leur expertise et leur implication ils sont en mesure de nous rassurer et de nous encourager. C\u2019est un lieu magique ou je sens toujours qu\u2019on s\u2019occupe bien de moi, que je suis important. Ils sont tous mes h\u00e9ros, ils combattent pour ma vie.<\/p>\n

Pendant que j\u2019attends de recevoir le traitement de chimioth\u00e9rapie, je regarde par la fen\u00eatre. J\u2019observe les arbres et le ciel. Dans la derni\u00e8re ann\u00e9e, ma vision de la vie a compl\u00e8tement chang\u00e9. Je peux voir la beaut\u00e9 dans les petites choses de la vie. Elle est belle et pr\u00e9cieuse la vie, surtout quand vous savez que votre temps est limit\u00e9. J\u2019esp\u00e8re que vous n\u2019aurez pas \u00e0 vivre un cancer pour r\u00e9aliser la chance que vous avez d\u2019\u00eatre en vie.<\/p>\n

J\u2019ai un cancer stade 4. J\u2019ai encore mes cheveux, mais j\u2019ai d\u2019autres sympt\u00f4mes qui viennent et repartent. La chimioth\u00e9rapie sauve ma vie, mais je participe activement \u00e0 ma gu\u00e9rison. J\u2019aime bien me consid\u00e9rer comme la preuve vivante que la chimioth\u00e9rapie fonctionne. Ma qualit\u00e9 de vie est bonne. Oui, il y a des effets secondaires. Ils varient d\u2019une personne \u00e0 l\u2019autre. Je ressens qu\u2019on me fait confiance, que je fais ma part en prenant ma m\u00e9dication et en \u00e9coutant mon corps.<\/p>\n

J\u2019ai un bon environnement familial avec ma chienne Gracie, un cadeau d\u2019un ami cher. Je suis bien entour\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Mon vieux p\u00e8re \u00e9tait dur avec son corps, mais il ne se plaignait jamais. Il avait un genou en mauvais \u00e9tat et parfois il avait du mal \u00e0 marcher. Quand je lui ai demand\u00e9 son secret, il m\u2019a r\u00e9pondu qu\u2019il se concentrait sur l\u2019autre genou, celui qui marche.<\/p>\n

J\u2019anticipe avec joie les jours et mois \u00e0 venir, en sachant que le moment venu je serai entre bonnes mains aux soins palliatifs. Je sais que je serai trait\u00e9 avec respect et dignit\u00e9, mais aussi comme si j\u2019\u00e9tais un membre aim\u00e9 de la famille.<\/p>\n
