Aller prendre le th\u00e9 \u00e0 la Clinique d\u2019oncologie<\/h3>\n

\"\"Je m\u2019appelle Gwen et j\u2019ai toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 en tr\u00e8s bonne sant\u00e9. Pendant 65 ans, je n\u2019ai jamais eu \u00e0 mettre les pieds \u00e0 l\u2019h\u00f4pital ! <\/strong> C\u2019est en 2019, apr\u00e8s avoir observ\u00e9 des sympt\u00f4mes anormaux, que je me suis rendue pour la premi\u00e8re fois \u00e0 l\u2019H\u00f4pital g\u00e9n\u00e9ral du Lakeshore. On m\u2019a annonc\u00e9 que j\u2019avais le cancer. Apr\u00e8s une op\u00e9ration durant laquelle les m\u00e9decins ont retir\u00e9 une masse canc\u00e9reuse, je me suis rapidement r\u00e9tablie ! En f\u00e9vrier 2020, j\u2019ai re\u00e7u un second diagnostic de cancer, mais cette fois c\u2019est un organe diff\u00e9rent qui \u00e9tait touch\u00e9. C\u2019\u00e9tait le jour de ma f\u00eate qu\u2019on m\u2019a ins\u00e9r\u00e9 une ligne de cath\u00e9ter pour la chimioth\u00e9rapie. Malgr\u00e9 la situation, j\u2019\u00e9tais reconnaissante pour la joie de vivre et la qualit\u00e9 des soins du personnel, tout au long de mes traitements. J\u2019avais l\u2019impression d\u2019aller prendre le th\u00e9 entre amis ! Des dames charmantes apportaient du th\u00e9 et des biscuits. Les infirmi\u00e8res \u00e9taient sympathiques et discutaient avec les autres patients. Rencontrer des infirmi\u00e8res d\u00e9vou\u00e9es comme Elisa, Andrea, Sabrina et Kim, qui trouvent toujours le moyen de faire sourire les gens, a rendu l\u2019exp\u00e9rience beaucoup plus agr\u00e9able.<\/strong> L\u2019une des choses dont je me souviendrai, c\u2019est que je me suis toujours sentie comme une personne et non comme une patiente.<\/p>\n

Puis, la Covid est arriv\u00e9e<\/strong><\/h4>\n

En mars 2020, mon mari ne pouvait plus m\u2019accompagner aux rendez-vous. Tous les patients \u00e9taient \u00e9loign\u00e9s les uns des autres et se trouvaient derri\u00e8re des rideaux. Cela ne nous emp\u00eachait pas de parler \u00e0 travers ! Vivre avec un cancer signifie \u00eatre encore plus vuln\u00e9rable socialement et mentalement. J\u2019ai pleur\u00e9 plusieurs fois. Ce n\u2019\u00e9tait pas facile, mais le personnel a rendu cette \u00e9preuve supportable. Je crois que leur \u00e9nergie positive a facilit\u00e9 mon r\u00e9tablissement !<\/strong> Pour le personnel, la pand\u00e9mie a aussi pos\u00e9 un grand d\u00e9fi. Pour toute intervention, ils devaient porter leur \u00e9quipement de protection individuelle, ce qui compliquait leurs t\u00e2ches quotidiennes. Malgr\u00e9 la charge de travail augment\u00e9e, ils sont rest\u00e9s aussi chaleureux et humains. Les infirmi\u00e8res et le personnel ont pris le temps de nous conna\u00eetre (les patients) et de se soucier de notre \u00e9tat de sant\u00e9, ce qui a cr\u00e9\u00e9 une sorte de deuxi\u00e8me famille pour nous en termes de soutien.<\/p>\n

Gel\u00e9e comme la Reine des neiges<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Mon traitement de chimioth\u00e9rapie a d\u00e9but\u00e9 en hiver. Une infirmi\u00e8re m\u2019avait donc averti que je risquais de devenir tr\u00e8s sensible au froid. J\u2019avais compris que j\u2019allais \u00eatre plus sensible, mais jamais avec une telle intensit\u00e9. Une fois sortie de l\u2019h\u00f4pital, je me suis sentie comme Elsa dans le film La reine des neiges ! Je n\u2019\u00e9tais pas inqui\u00e8te parce que j\u2019\u00e9tais bien inform\u00e9e. Gr\u00e2ce aux infirmi\u00e8res, pharmaciens et oncologues, je savais toujours \u00e0 quoi m\u2019attendre, ce qui m\u2019a rassur\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Tout est bien qui finit bien <\/strong><\/h4>\n

Pendant la pand\u00e9mie, j\u2019avais h\u00e2te d\u2019aller \u00e0 l\u2019h\u00f4pital L\u2019\u00e9quipe de la Clinique d\u2019oncologie \u00e9tait devenue comme une seconde famille.<\/strong> En tout cas, je n\u2019ai plus peur des h\u00f4pitaux et je suis maintenant en excellente sant\u00e9 ![\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
